Gustav Hakansson was sixty-six years old. His hair was snow white. His beard was a white bush. His face rippled with wrinkles whenever he smiled. Gustave Hakansson looked like an old man, but he didn't feel old, and he certainly didn't act old. In 1951, he defied the judges and rode over 1,000 miled in the Sverige-Loppet, the longest bicycle race in the history of Sweden. What's more, he biked an additional 600 milees just to get to the starting line. And to top it all, he finidhed first!
